Our Mission
The mission of A Hole in the Roof Foundation is to help faith groups who care for the homeless repair the spaces in which they carry out their work. Created by author Mitch Albom, the foundation got its name from a church profiled his book “Have A Little Faith.” The I Am My Brother's Keeper Church in Detroit, despite a gaping hole in its roof, provided spiritual nourishment and a sanctuary for the homeless. Eventually, through generous donations, that hole in the roof was fixed.
The foundation then moved on to other projects, its latest being a mission/orphanage in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Here, through your support, A Hole In The Roof has made three trips to The caring and sharing/have faith haiti mission in Port Au Prince to build bathrooms, showers, dorms and a kitchen for dozens of children who have been sleeping on the ground and eating two meager meals a day. A Hole In the Roof welcomes inquiries for possible new projects. Send details to aherm@drmm.org
