SAY Detroit Strengthens Partnership with DPSCD
When our community needs help, we do our best to provide a pathway! Davis Aerospace Technical High School needed a facility for the first 3 weeks of school. Their new building, the former Detroit City Airport, renovation was not complete.
We opened our doors. Davis staff reported to the SAY Detroit Play Center at Lipke Park on August 17 and 125 high school students started classes on August 24.
We are thankful for the trust of the Detroit Public School Community District (DPSCD) and the strengthened partnership between SAY Detroit, DPSCD and Davis Areospace.
Increased Support for New Mothers
The SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic’s First Year Program supports 25 expectant and new mothers with counseling, education, supplies and access to partner resources. In the early spring, we launched “Girl Talk,” a once-monthly luncheon and speaker series, allowing increased accessibility and peer support to the women in First Year.
The September series discussed healthy relationships with a therapist from Therapy within Reach. We are pleased to share that a therapist will come once a quarter and provide regular group therapy sessions for First Year moms.
A Red Carpet Welcome for SAY Play Students
As part of what’s becoming a SAY Play tradition, staff rolled out the red carpet to welcome 135 students as they stepped off the buses on Monday, September 21, cheering them into the new school year! Nearly 275 students are registered to join us at SAY Play.

A Time to Help Preps Safe Place for Youth
Earlier this month, nearly one dozen A Time to Help (ATTH) volunteers dedicated their morning to a back-to-school clean-up at the SAY Detroit Play Center. Inside, volunteers cleaned walls, windows, bathrooms, and classrooms, and fixed window screens. Outside they collected more than 10 garbage bags of trash around the SAY Play campus. Thank you!

The SAY Clinic’s monthly women’s support group, Wellness Wednesdays, welcomed representatives from Golden Connection Senior Services this September for an important conversation around online safety and other technology scams.
