April is National Volunteer Month!

And wow, do we have some awesome volunteers! Earlier this month, A Time to Help volunteers committed more than 80 hours to support sustainability and food programs with Community Social Services, The Greening of Detroit and Focus: HOPE. [Read about it here.]
We want to thank everyone who volunteers with A Time to Help, helping further SAY Detroit’s mission to provide pathways to success for Detroiters in need. Our volunteers partner with local organizations and support our students at the SAY Detroit Play Center.
Program Expansion Fuels Move to Larger Space
The SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic has come a long way since it opened its doors in 2008. We are now proud to offer specialty services such as gynecology, podiatry, physical therapy, dermatology, health coaching, and nutrition. The Clinic treats uninsured and insured patients and offers a pharmacy that fills more than 5,700 prescriptions annually.
We are moving to ensure we can continue expanding our patient outreach. The Clinic is moving to Oakwood Blvd, just one mile from our current location. And conveniently, our new location has a bus stop right out front.
Within the year, the Clinic will begin treating children and offering Dental services. Stay tuned for more updates!
Wellness Wednesday Prepares Seniors

Older adults are often the target of financial scams, but they don’t have to be victims. The SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic’s monthly women’s support group tackled important safety tips everyone can benefit from:
- Don’t share personal info over the phone (like social security number, Medicare/Medicaid number, bank/credit/debit account numbers, birthdates and full addresses)
- Don’t click links or open attachments from unknown senders
- Look for typos, odd formatting, and beware of fake urgency like “act now” or “account locked.”
The next Wellness Wednesday is June 18, and we will share important information about cancer screenings.
We are Getting Hungry!

SAY Detroit’s highly anticipated EAT Detroit on Monday, June 9, is SOLD OUT! Thank you to everyone who registered. We look forward to celebrating our city’s diverse culinary scene in a one-night-only foodie experience and fundraiser!
If you purchased tickets, stay tuned for additional information and reminders.
If you missed out or are already excited for next year, you can join the waitlist for 2026.
