TITLE: Senior Fundraiser and Haitian Liaison

DUTIES: Contact organizations, family foundations, government agencies, and individual donors to fundraise for a large orphanage and grade school/high school in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Responsible for bookkeeping, grant writing, letter writing, phone communications, and report writing. Have weekly liaisons with Haitian programmers, medical staff and educational team in Haiti. Travel between Haiti and Michigan. Up to 15% International and Domestic travel is required.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Business, Finance, International Studies or General Studies. Experience must include: must speak English, French and Haitian Creole; experience working with charitable organizations; knowledge of grant writing; experience in fundraising. Must be fluent in English, French and Haitian Creole

TITLE: Transportation Specialist

Transportation Coordinator

Summary / Objective:
Reporting to the Transportation Coordinator, the Transportation Specialist will be responsible for the safe, timely, and responsible transport of students between designated schools to the SAY Detroit Play Center for participation in scheduled after-school programming, including academic enrichment, athletic competitions, and community events. The Transportation Specialist will also provide daily transportation from the center to students’ homes.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitation of daily student transportation
  • Evaluate the safety of road conditions during inclement weather and work collaboratively with the Transportation Coordinator to make recommendations for school pick-ups and home drop-offs
  • Promote a productive environment for transportation staff and students by recognizing and solving problems and encouraging teamwork, creativity, and understanding
  • Work with staff, students, and parents regarding behavioral issues while being transported to or from the center
  • Establish and maintain good public relations with all stakeholders (staff, students, participating school staff, parents, and others)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Director of Operations.

The Assistant Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to provide nutritious, child-friendly meals and snacks, maintain food safety standards, and contribute to a positive mealtime experience for children ages 8 to 18.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing daily snacks and light meals within nutrition guidelines.

TITLE: Summer Camp - Reading & Math Instructor

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Summer Camp Instructor will serve as a key member of the SAY Detroit Play Center’s team and will assist in the organization’s effort to scale and refine the existing educational enrichment program with a focus on the development of summer enrichment for students in rising grades 3 - 9 attending our summer camp. The Instructor will be passionate about youth and innovation and possess a proven background in youth education.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing E/LA & Math instruction in accordance with the Lavinia RISE Summer School Program curriculum
  • Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with licensing guidelines and program policies
  • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the center’s campus
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines
  • Run pre and post-assessments in E/LA and Math for all students during orientation
  • Attending weekly professional development opportunities provided by the SAY Detroit Play Center
