This November, as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, SAY Detroit wants to take a moment to celebrate the community that supports our mission: our generous donors and volunteers. Without the donations of your time and treasure we would not be able to welcome nearly 200 students to the SAY Detroit Play Center after school, to provide care to almost 4,000 patients at the SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic and to help families without housing find safety and stability in a home of their own.

SAY Play Competes in Gardner White’s Twinkle Town
Our very own SAY Play “Art Squad”, led by teacher Cye Cureton is participating in the third annual holiday tree decorating contest: Twinkle Town presented by Gardner White.
SAY Play decorated their tree to the theme of “Glitchmas”. It’s a playful take on the digital world’s “glitch” with a fun holiday twist.
Twenty charities decorated trees for display in Gardner White’s Warren location and the public is invited to vote on their favorite tree! The winning tree receives a $10,000 donation to their respective charity. Vote today to support SAY Play students!
Giving The Power of Two Wheels
SAY Detroit’s Mi-Cycle is continuing its partnership with local charities to distribute repurposed bikes to those in need. Throughout the year Mi-Cycle has been partnered with Matchan Nutrition Center in Pontiac to distribute bikes. On October 29, Mi-Cycle gave a way more than 150 bikes during Matchan’s weekly food and clothing distribution event.

We’ve got big plans and so do you on Thursday, December 12! The 13th annual SAY Detroit Radiothon hosted by Mitch Albom will broadcast live from Somerset Collection’s North Grand Court for 15 hours in support of better days for Detroiters in need.

A Happy Walk Down Memory Lane for Wellness Wednesdays
The last 2024 gathering of the Wellness Wednesdays women’s support group was all about fellowship, gratefulness, and recalling experiences and expressions from long ago that have since become tiny moments of joy.
The goal of the Nov. 20 session was to end the year with a smile — especially since the next monthly meetup won’t resume until Jan. 15, 2025. The final 20 minutes were dedicated to singing Christmas carols and other holiday songs before the women went “shopping’’ for produce and other items for next week’s Thanksgiving meal.
