Educational Insights from SAY Play Summer Camp

SAY Detroit is proud to share that our 2024 SAY Detroit Play Center at Lipke Park Summer Camp was the largest and most impactful yet! We had well over 200 students participating daily and can show improved learning in reading and math!

SAY Play’s Summer Camp participated in a pilot program sponsored by United Way/Ballmer Group and its 2024 Summer Discovery series. The program successfully helped narrow the learning gaps for students at SAY Play through literacy and educational programming, utilizing a holistic approach, integrating academics, wellness, youth development, sports and enrichment activities.

Mi-Cycle is busy providing the power of two wheels to the Detroit community! On Saturday, Oct. 12, SAY Detroit’s Mi-Cycle gave away 233 bicycles to families involved with the Westside Cultural and Athletic Club and the River Rouge School District. It was all smiles on the beautiful fall day – especially when two little kids mastered riding a two-wheeler!

Join Us To Provide Pathways To Success

We know “it takes a village” to fulfill our mission and we pride ourselves in building lasting partnerships with local organizations and individual donors. Last year nearly 2,200 donors joined our village to provide pathways to success for Detroiters in need through our after-school motivational learning center, a free medical clinic, a housing program for working families; and other learning, health care and housing programs.

Please join us as a partner in our mission by making a gift today!

A Heartfelt Thank You To The Masons!

Masons 2024

For the ninth consecutive year, the SAY Detroit Play Center received a $500,000 donation from the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation. To celebrate our long-standing partnership, SAY Play hosted student-led discussions highlighting the many programs they participate in during the after-school hours. Thank you, Masons

What’s In Your Medicine Cabinet?

On Wednesday, Oct. 16 the SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic hosted Wellness Wednesday. Nurse Practitioner Kristin McErlean educated women about the importance of clearing out their medicine cabinets and sharing the medicines they take with their doctor.

Also, to promote the benefits of regular breast exams, guests were encouraged to wear pink and to join SAY Detroit at the SAY Detroit Play Center at Lipke Park on Friday, Oct. 18 for LOVE, HOPE & PIZZA. SAY Detroit, in partnership with Hungry Howie’s Pizza, the Van Elslander Cancer Center, and Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa provided free mammograms to those in need.
