Please consider making an additional gift to SAY Detroit to support our nutrition education and meal program at the SAY Play Center at Lipke Park, an after-school youth development and academic enrichment center on Detroit’s northeast side.
We know there is a positive correlation between a belly full of nutritious food and learning. At SAY Play, access to healthy food is an essential element to our programming. Our students are welcomed to the center with a nutritious meal prepared by our two chefs. Our chefs engage the students in casual conversation, discussing healthy choices and opening their minds to new foods and tastes. Before beginning their academic studies, students complete a checklist, letting us know if they have eaten and are ready to learn.
