The Detroit Goodfellows believe every child deserves joy and warmth during the holidays. Since 1914, they’ve delivered hundreds of thousands of holiday gift packages to children in Detroit and surrounding communities. This year, they’ll distribute 26,000 packages filled with essentials and delights for kids ages 4 to 13—including warm clothing, winter gear, books, toys, art supplies, candy, and more.
One of the most meaningful parts of each Goodfellow package is the dental kit—because every child
deserves a healthy smile. These kits include a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental timer, floss, chapstick, and helpful information about dental care programs. That’s over 120,000 items that need packing—and they need your help! Each summer, teams of volunteers join them at the Goodfellow warehouse to assemble these kits. It’s a simple, hands-on way to make a real impact—and a great group volunteer experience.

Parking: The entrance to the project will be around the back of the warehouse on Vermont St., which runs paraallel to Rosa Parks, between Bagley and Marantette Street. Parking is available there.
