Continuing its discussion from the previous meetup, the today’s support group for Detroit women explored what living your best at every age truly means. Alexis Harvey, group host and community health worker at the SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic, created space for a meaningful and honest conversation about health and mental health, with a strong focus on breaking stigmas and recognizing that mental health deserves attention, care, and support just like physical health.

Participants also discussed the importance of bridging the gap between generations—sharing knowledge, listening without judgment, and building safe, supportive environments where youth feel comfortable expressing their concerns and experiences. The discussion highlighted the power of listening, understanding, and showing up for one another across generations.
The group explored how worries and issues from younger generations tend to be dismissed. “We can’t assume children have no worries just because they are cared for,” Alexis shared with the group. “They may need help and support.”
The next Wellness Wednesdays meetup is slated for May 20. Call 313-758-6100 to register.
