A Time to Help May 2017: The Detroit Zoo

Event Date/Time: Saturday, May 20, 9 a.m. to noon. Please arrive by 8:30 a.m. 

Project: Volunteers will be performing general landscaping and grounds clean-up throughout the Zoo, as needed. Volunteers will work in teams supervised by the Zoo’s landscape staff.

Where: Detroit Zoo — Ten Mile and Woodward in Royal Oak.

Parking: Enter at Gate 4/Administration entrance located a quarter mile west of Woodward on the I-696 Service Drive. The guard at the gate will have names of volunteers and will direct them to parking in the Ten Mile lot. Meeting place for the group will be the lobby of the Ford Education Center. Follow the serpentine walkway to the courtyard door of the center. Signage will direct you to the appropriate location inside the building.

Waiver: Signed waivers are required to participate. They will be available upon arrival at the Ford Education Center.

Attire: Volunteers must be dressed appropriately for outdoor work. Closed-toe shoes are a must. Hat, gloves, sunscreen and inset repellant are recommended.

Bring: Volunteers should bring refillable water bottles for their personal use. Tools and materials will be provided.

Important: Registration will close on May 16 for this project. Minimum age is 18; no children can be accepted for this event. The Zoo assumes this is a rain or shine event.
