Detroit (Dec. 3, 2015)
With our annual S.A.Y. Detroit/A Time to Help annual Holiday Party just around the corner, we are in need of volunteers – and gifts – to help make the event a success for children and their mothers.
Shelter residents at The Salvation Army Harbor Light will be treated to holiday shopping where they will pick up donated new toys and clothing for themselves and their children. All children who are guests from The Salvation Army’s other core facilities and programs will receive holiday treat bags at the party.
We are asking volunteers to bring an unwrapped new gift from the list below in addition to helping at the party. We’ll be providing breakfast and lunch to those in attendance, as well as arts and crafts, a game center, face painting, music (and Santa Claus!) for the children, and manicures and chair massages for the mothers. We need your help to make this celebration a memorable one for all.
