A Time to Help has a special volunteer opportunity planned for Sunday, March 12, 2023: We’ll be hosting an invitation-only “Baby Shower’’ for mothers and moms-to-be who participate in our First Year education and resource program at the SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic.
The actual event will be held from 1-3 pm at the Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center in Highland Park (doors open at 12:45 pm), and we need a lot of hands to help us pull off this special day. We’ve already received tremendous support from sponsors and donors including Detroit-based Rebel Nell, which is planning a group activity involving creating a mural commemorating the event, as well as a team of masseurs and nail techs who will anchor a “Relaxation Station’’ for the moms, among other activities, including a raffle.
You can sign up and volunteer for one of two shifts – or both! – if you’d like to commit the time.
Shift 1 (10 am – 12:30 pm) will entail the actual staging of the event space, from positioning the tables and chairs around the gymnasium, and dressing them, to organizing the free “Shopping Spree’’ and constructing dozens of boxes for packaging a plethora of items received from donors and sponsors for our “Gift Suite.’’ We’re in need of 14 volunteers for this shift.
Shift 2 (12:30 -3:30 pm) duties will entail the actual hosting of the shower, including checking in our guests, serving as greeters at each area, running the “Shopping Spree,’’ distributing items from the “Gift Suite’’ near the conclusion of the event, and helping serve a light lunch, dessert, and refreshments to our guests, as well as assisting in cleaning up the space the conclusion of the event. We’re in need of 24 volunteers for this shift.

Attire/Other Info: Casual is fine, but please dress neatly. OK to wear comfy shoes. This is a registration-only event on CERVIS. If you don’t feel well, please don’t attend and do unregister through CERVIS.
