A Time to Help Working Homes / Working Families

September 22, 2020

Outside landscaping at a house that is currently being rehabbed by SAY Detroit to benefit the nonprofit’s Working Homes/Working Families program.

Date: Tuesday, October 6

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Yes, a Tuesday! We know ATTH projects are usually held on Saturdays, but we’re making a special case for the project. As we are limiting registration to 15 volunteers, all confirmed participants are asked to arrive between 9:30 and 11 am. The project will start promptly at 9:30 am.

Project Description: The landscape project will include removal of debris and extraneous shrubs and overgrowth; building beds; planting bushes and perennials, etc. We’ll also be helping a professional landscaper who’ll be overseeing the project to build a fence as well as put up a swing set.

Location/Parking: The house is located on Detroit’s west side. The address will be emailed to each confirmed registrant one or two days before the project to protect our client’s privacy.

Other Info: All volunteers will be required to wear face coverings and physical distancing will be enforced. Water and bagged lunches will be provided. Tools will be on site, but volunteers are asked to bring and wear their own work gloves, as well as long plants and hard-soled shoes. Note: If you’d like to donate any yard tools for the new family, that would be appreciated. ATTH is also looking for a vacuum cleaner for them as well. If you have a gently used one that you could donate, please send an email to atimetohelp.detroit@gmail.com
