On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Mitch Albom Show, Mitch and Ken were joined by Angela Aufdemberge, President and CEO of Vista Maria, and Nelly Kendrick, Director of Dignity House in Detroit bring attention to the very serious and often underreported trauma of sexual assault, recently at the forefront of discussion about rape on university campuses in the wake of the high-profile lawsuit settlement regarding an alleged rape at Florida State University(FSU) by Jameis Winston, a former student athlete.

Forgotten Harvest is a food rescue organization that rescues surplus, prepared and perishable food and donates it to emergency food providers. New Piano at SAY Play
With gratitude to Jane Denys-Myers, SAY Play has a new addition to its music facilities: a previously-loved Boston (Steinway) upright piano. Donated in memory of Jane’s late niece Patricia Koenig of Chesterfield Township, the piano now sits in the lobby of the center, and is there for all students to play. (We caught Mitch Albom tickling the ivories just the other day). We look forward to hearing their songs.
S.A.Y. Detroit Play Center teams up with Pistons
The S.A.Y. Detroit Play Center is excited to announce their newest partnership with the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons will be donating $600,000 over 6 years, refurbishing the basketball court, scoreboard and gym floor, but most importantly they will help fund the academics that is the foundation of S.A.Y. Play Detroit.
Salvation Army Party for Kids a Holiday Hit
DETROIT (Dec. 12) – Here’s a snapshot of what Saturday’s A Time to Help Christmas Party for shelter residents at The Salvation Army Harbor Light in Detroit looked like: White lights draped and twinkling from the rafters. Small children running around with painted faces playing balloon games, while older ones danced away to hip-hop music.
Three Families, Three Homes at Radiothon
As has become tradition during each annual S.A.Y. Detroit Radiothon, three deserving families received the keys to their new homes through the Working Homes/Working Families program. The idea of Working Homes/Working Families is simple. Detroit has too many abandoned houses. It also has too many families who lack a decent place to live.
