Holiday Party for Denby Shelter a Hit

December 08, 2014

On Saturday, December 6, the annual A Time to Help holiday party for shelter residents overflowed with good food, fun activities, and touching moments.

Adopting homeless children and their parents living in shelters for one day is one of A Time to Help’s most cherished activities.  Over 125 volunteers came to the Denby Center for Children and Family Services to make some holiday love for those needing some brightness in their lives.  Moms were able to “shop” for presents for their children at the gift store stocked with donated clothing, toys and toiletries. While moms received  manicures and chair massages, their children engaged in a variety of activities from face painting, caricatures, super hero sketches, art & crafts, and of course, meeting Santa & Mrs. Claus.  And in the end…everyone took away lovely memories.

Special acknowledgments go to the following donors of food and services:

Achatz Pies, Costco, Bruegger’s Bagels, Jeff Zak Catering, Kroger Company, Nino Salvaggio, Shield’s Pizza, Streetside Seafood, The Bagel Factory, Chimples (ballooner) & Kookla (facepaint artist), Lyn Austin, mGoBlog, Richard & Irina Burrous aka Chimples & Kookla, Bill & Diane Doebler (aka Santa and Mrs. Claus)
